Year Five Mood Boosters

Today, Year Five explored how active travel is great for boosting our mood, and brain function.  We learnt that exercise helps us sleep better, learn easier and makes us feel happy.  So active travel each morning is a no brainer!

First we read information about brain function and answered comprehension questions.

"I learnt the circadian rhythm is like your body clock" Valeria

Thivnesh "The hippocampus helps you remember and learn"

"Endorphins make you happy  and exercise gives you endorphins" Jasper.

Next, we logged our current mood and then compared this data with how we felt after exercise.

Lastly we designed a badge to promote active travel as a mood booster. Some slogans we thought of were:

- Bilal "Run for Fun"

Tate "Walking makes you happy for the day ahead"

"Don't sit it's time to get fit" Lavinia

"I like to bike to school and you should too" Haven

Payton "Walk it and talk it"

Education for Sustainability isn't just about learning, we also take action to help our local environment.  Today we mulched the native bushwalk as our mahi for the mara. Great delight was had in finding worms, centipedes and beetles!

Oh dear look at the litter we found. Well done Year 5 for cleaning up as we mulched. And super well done to Litterfree Lunchers.
