Tui Rooms Tahi, Rua, Toru, & Wha Go On A Rubbish Hunt


In our Year One EfS lessons, we're wondering how we can make our school more sustainable. 

After our karakia and waiata, we read 'Kiki Kiwi and the Travelling Trash'. We discovered from Kiki and his friends that trash travels down the outside drains to the moana and can hurt sea creatures.



Then, we took action by going on a rubbish hunt around the school. We found lots of trash, but how did it get there we wondered?

We sorted the trash into 3 piles - paper, food packages and building waste.

This is Tui Room Toru's piles.

Which was the biggest pile? Food packages by far!! 

Outside drains lead straight to the sea, in the afternoon we made sure ours were litter free.



I wonder what could we do to reduce our school rubbish? Comment below if you have some ideas:
