Our Eco Warriors Become Pest Free Cadets

Today Ethan from Pest Free Howick held his first of five sessions with our Eco Leaders. Ethan began his journey in sustainability just like our tamariki, in his school enviro group; now he is studying environmental science at university and working for Pest Free Howick.

Follow our learning journey across the five session in this slide deck: Pest Free Cadetship

Toru Ako mo nga heihei

Haere mai Te Wiki o te Reo Maori,

Year 3 learnt about our heihei (chickens) today with a fun scavenger hunt. We use our Waka hens to convert food scraps into eggs and fertiliser, instead of sending them off to landfill. Did you know chickens can recognise 100 faces?

How do you convert waste at home?  Mrs Daniel and Ms Everitt both have worm farms at home to convert food they don't want into fertiliser for our vege patches.
