We played a game to explore the idea of equality & privilege as outlined in this video:
This is what the tamariki thought:
AT THE FRONT OF THE ROOM ...
Life is sometimes unfair
Even if life isn't fair you have to push through
Life's not fair get used to it
You can choose where you begin in life
You can't get everything you want in life
It was fair because we were allowed to stand up
I have good aim
We tried hard and so we got it in
IN THE MIDDLE
The higher you are the more you succeed and the lower you are the more you fail. If you start off low you'll fail.
People at the back could be trying really hard but the people at the front could be cheating
AT THE BACK
It wasn't fair
I'm bad at throwing
The people at the back have a disadvantage
Maybe the paper didn't even want to get in the bucket
you can't have everything in life
If you have everything you can feel empty. You have to fail and keep trying.
We had a disadvantage and there were things in the way
If you're at the back you have to do a perfect shot so there's a lower chance and if you're at the front it was easy.
A bit like life because people were in our way
