Why do we keep Chickens?
Our heiheis (chickens) help us breakdown our biodegradable waste into nutrient rich soil, just like our worm farms and compost bins.
Unlike our worm farms and compost bins our heihei give us eggs and they've got great personalities too.
Year Three are our chicken experts. Today, they went on a scavenger hunt to learn more about our feathered friends.
You can buy our free range eggs from the school office.
Learning and Taking Action with Sustainable Coastlines
Waka kids are kaitiaki of our oceans. We've been working with Sustainable Coastlines to learn about how to protect our moana by acting sustainably. We took part in a beach cleanup. Look at all the plastic we found. It doesn't breakdown and it hurts our sea life when they mistake it for food.
Can you help too by avoiding single use plastic and picking up rubbish when you see it?
For more photos check out the display in the Kakapo corridor.
